Overview:

The Engineer is responsible for maintaining all building-related systems and the building envelope to ensure the safety of hotel guests, associates, and vendors. This role involves ensuring compliance with company engineering standards, preventative maintenance programs, and all Building/Fire/Health Department codes. A focus on energy efficiency is essential, with a constant drive to identify ways to save energy.

Job Description:

During the training program, you will develop specific skills to successfully complete the program and be placed in a hotel, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Assist with preventative maintenance and complete work orders, such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, and patching vinyl, to maintain hotel standards.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance assignments (e.g., "room care").
  • Check electrical systems (e.g., air conditioning controls, televisions, lighting systems) and make minor repairs or replacements.
  • Assist with routine repairs and major repairs of hotel equipment, including small appliances, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, boilers, pool equipment, HVAC systems, and plumbing fixtures.
  • Service the hotel's pool, including chemical adjustments and filter cleaning; complete maintenance request forms and record logs.
  • Maintain the building's exterior and "curb appeal" (e.g., snow removal, lawn care, painting, gardening).
  • Refurbish furniture and fixtures within guest rooms, including painting and finishing as needed.
  • Respond courteously to all guest questions, complaints, and requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
  • Operate heavy machinery and comply with safety protocols.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:

  • Vocational schooling, military training, certification, and/or experience in building-related trades required in one or more of the following areas: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Carpentry.
  • Hotel experience preferred.
  • Ability to climb, read, stand, walk, and lift 25 lbs to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to receive instructions and communicate progress on work assignments.
  • Proficiency in English communication.
