Government and Association Groups

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Meets and exceeds revenue goals by developing new accounts and growing current hotel accounts in a profitable and win-win selling approach.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Solicitation, selling and contracting rooms for assigned market (Government accounts and Association) in coordination with transient/group demand patterns and existing Association group business in order to maximize hotel room and related revenue. Continuous outside and inside sales solicitation to grow new Government and Association Group.

Efficient and accurate detailing of groups/accounts as needed from time of booking through event date, communication of details to operational departments in a timely and accurate manner to ensure proper execution of guest needs.

Responsibilities:

• Creates and executes strategic sales plans to identify, attract and retain appropriate business to hotel

• Outside Sales solicitation activities to grow Association and Government (Federal and State) and related revenue

• Overnight travel for business related activities as needed

• Achievement of monthly and quarterly goals

• Proficient use of computer, software and technology

• Skillfully respond to incoming leads and maximize conversion from all sources

• Analyze and manage business opportunities to achieve the highest profit margins for department and hotel

• Creatively sells available hotel space to maximize revenue

• Negotiate and finalizes contracts with in approved guidelines

• Provide accurate forecasts to operational departments to ensure proper staffing

• Establishes on- sight customer contact as needed and introduces customer to the service staff

• Ensure proper usage and that all required information is entered into sales software including all significant client communication

• Conducts oneself at all times in a professional business manner, acts as a professional representative of the hotel and an enthusiastic member of the sales team

• Volunteers and assists other sales members as needed in the achievement of their goals to ensure departmental goals are met

• Ensures Business Plan and related action plans are executed as established

• Position may be required to occasionally work flexible hours and weekends Other duties as assigned.

• Admin responsibilities may include:

• Obtaining rooming lists, catering selection and set-up details from clients

• Trace files to ensure correct payment

• Proper procedures pre and post function to ensure payment

• Communicates with appropriate departments regarding set-up changes and final count

• Ensures that guest rooms and meeting rooms are blocked

• Provide accurate forecasts to operational departments to ensure proper staffing

• Position may be required to work flexible hours and weekends

• Other responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor

Qualifications:

Experience/Education:

• Must have a high school diploma or GED minimum. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• Two years - experience in hotel sales, preferably in the Association/or Government markets

• Ability to effectively and efficiently utilize a variety of computer programs, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, property management system, sales software, timekeeping system, etc.

• Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.

• Advanced knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, writing and executing action plans, and hotel operations.

• Able to set priorities, plan, organize

Preferred Skills and/or Education:

• Hotel Sales Experience at last 2 years preferred, Hilton Experience preferred

• Hilton OnQ or PEP Knowledge a plus

• Must have experience at a similar size and quality hotel.

• Ability to effectively and efficiently utilize a variety of computer programs, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Delphi/Sales Force sales software etc.

• Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.

• Must possess reliable transportation
